The Brass Tacks Ensemble is happy to announce auditions for the first show of our 2018 season:

The 39 Steps
by Patrick Barlow
Directed by Ethan Gibney

Performance Dates:  Fridays through Sundays, April 20-22 & April 27-29, 2018.  Friday and Saturday performances at 8 pm, Sunday performances at 2 pm.  Performances will be at the CCC, 1600 Pauline Blvd., Ann Arbor, MI.

When a mysterious woman is killed in his London home, Richard Hannay finds himself framed for her murder. To prove his innocence and expose those responsible—a sinister espionage network known as “The 39 Steps”—Hannay must race across the country to find the only man that can help him. Inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s film and John Buchan’s classic novel, The 39 Steps is a fast-paced comic adventure full of spies, murder, and romance—all with a vaudeville twist!

We are looking to cast 4-5 actors for this production.  There are parts for one male, one female, and 2-3 roles that are open to any gender.  We encourage actors of all races and genders to audition, and we will consider all actors 18 years of age and older.  Those who are auditioning should prepare a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue; anyone who comes to the audition without a prepared monologue will be given a passage to read by the director.

Auditions will be held on the evenings of Monday, February 12, and Tuesday, February 13, 2018.  Group callbacks will be Thursday, February 15, 2018.  Auditions and callbacks will be held at the Children’s Creative Center, 1600 Pauline Blvd., Ann Arbor, MI.  Actors interested in auditioning should contact The Brass Tacks Ensemble to reserve a ten-minute time slot on either February 12th or 13th.  The Brass Tacks Ensemble can be reached either through email at or by contacting James Ingagiola by phone at (734) 330-4615.   If you are interested in auditioning but none of the above dates work for you, please contact us anyway, and we will attempt to make another arrangement.

Rehearsals will begin March 5, 2018, and they will generally be held Sundays through Thursdays.  Actors should expect to be at every rehearsal during the first production week (April 16-22).
